Things to include when defining characteristics of characters in writing:

• the music that plays in the background when they're walking, thinking, letting their mind drift > might it be of some significance - religious, memory, lyrics
• the stories they tell themselves when they're walking, thinking, letting their mind drift
• the conflict / arguments they're imagining when they're walking, thinking, letting their mind drift
